Full project title: Culture Compass: Navigating newcomers for cultural integration through digital learning
Culture Compass is an Erasmus+ funded project is designed to enhance and educate foreign youths on the cultural knowledge of their new/host country.
Objectives of the project
The objective of the Culture Compass project is designed to enhance and educate foreign youths on the cultural knowledge of their new/host country. This will foster a sense of belonging, allowing for cultural integration, intergenerational, social inclusion, and civic engagement among the target groups.
The bespoke interactive material created will be engaging and immersive, with the aim of bridging the gap between the newcomers and their new/host countries, ensuring they integrate into their new community and gain a deeper understanding of the culture, traditions, and values.
The Culture Compass project will focus on primarily youths aged 18-30 years old. The digital material created will provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience designed specifically to appeal to this age range.
Although the project focuses on those from diverse backgrounds, they all have a common goal of cultural integration and social inclusion. The consortium will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that motivates the target groups, fostering cultural awareness, allowing the newcomers to embrace and adapt to their new/host communities.
Target groups of the project
The direct target groups for the Culture Compass project are foreigners currently residing in partner countries between the ages of 18-30, with the aim of educating them through innovative and engaging educational content that will greatly contribute towards them feeling included and part of their new community.
Direct target groups:
- Immigrants currently residing in partner countries.
- Migrants currently residing in partner countries.
Other target groups:
- Refugees currently residing in partner countries.
- Expatriates currently residing in partner countries.
- Organisations, associations, and NGOs working directly with the target groups.
- Citizens from the partnering countries who wish to learn more about their country’s history or culture, including those who have relocated to a different area within their country.
- Areas of interest to the target groups such as local learning centres, libraries, and community centres.
- Education and training centres.
- Municipalities.
The age range of 18-30 years old is very important to this project, as it is those from this age range that usually lack cultural understanding, this could be due to lack of exposure to different cultures and limited life experiences, plus the lack of interest to learn and educate themselves as they may have different priorities such as education and career development.
